Times...They Are'A Changin'

Once upon a time there was a husband and wife who often joked with her parents on the subject of the parents moving into the "in-law apartment" above the garage. Weird fairytale, right?

Well, that husband and wife didn't have an "in-law apartment" above their garage.....but we will in less than 3 months! Yup, this is my house and we are officially under construction. We are adding a third stall onto the garage and building the addition above all three stalls. I think it will be about 1000 sq ft of living space when its done.

The joke turned into a reality about 6 months ago. Although Keith and I are struggling, we are not suffering and are thankfully able to live on what we make each month. My parents were stable as well, but were looking to downsize since retirement is in the near future and they plan on traveling in the winter months. Fortunately, we are very close to my parents. When we discussed it, we agreed that times are tough for everyone, and we all felt it was a beneficial decision for our futures...financially and for family.

My parents miraculously sold thier house in this market and are now in an apartment for 3 months during the constuction. They should be moved in by the end of June. Yup, times, they are'a changin'....but we are all looking forward to it. It just gets loud around here sometimes! :o)

The Good News and the Bad News.....

We'll start with the bad news. I broke my Nikkor 55-200mm lens. Totally sucked! I had it on my camera and set it somewhere in the garage (stupid, I know). The next thing I knew, it was on the ground. But I didn't even notice until a day or two later that the lens was completely cracked in half. Thankfully, it was only my lens that broke and not my camera.

The good news? I have been wanting a macro lens for a long time now. My husband knew how distraught I was when my lens broke....so I begged and pleaded with him to let me get a new lens. It really only helps the matter that I have been getting paid better lately while filling in for a friend on maternity leave at work (and have almost completely paid our credit cards off). So I opted to buy a macro lens and decided I will replace my zoom lens another time. After much deliberation, and just in time for Spring flowers, I bought the Tamron 90mm macro lens

So what do you do when you first get a shiny new macro lens? You get some flowers and water drops, of course! I should thank my parents incompetent real estate agent for the beautiful Cyclamens. She sent them as an apology for nothing going right during the sale of their house. My parents could have cared less that they came, but I was thankful. They came the same day my lens arrived! :o)

Best Shot Monday

I have been amazed lately at how much Ella has grown. Those legs! Those legs stretch a mile long! She now reaches from one end of her bed to the other (its the crib that you take the front off and turn it into a day bed). We are soon going to have to convert it to a full size bed. Since its been getting warmer here, Ella has been wearing nightgowns to bed instead of full on fleece jammies from head to toe. I swear her legs grew a foot over the winter! I could also tell nearing the end of winter that she was growing out of her size 4T jeans.. My toddler is almost into 'girl size' clothes....I cant even believe it.

Fortune Photo Friday

I had to post this one for the simple reason that it creeps my husband out. :o)
I asked him to hold it for me while I took it's picture and he flat out said NO. He would NOT touch it. I guess I am kinda superstitious...not that I actually use this....but I am not scared to touch it! He wanted nothing to do with it (hee hee).

I got it from a friend a couple of years ago. It has a magnet on the back of it and it has been stuck to my fridge since then. I thought of it instantly when I read this fortune.

Fortune Photo Friday

When I read this fortune, I totally thought of all of the creative people I have met since blogging.

I purchased this wallet when Jen opened her Etsy shop. I love it! I initially bought it so that when I go work out, I could just put my cell phone, my bank card and my keys in it and go. But it turned into some sort of a picture holder. I found a bunch of old pictures from when I was little. I had shoved them in the wallet to protect them when I went to show my parents and I just left them in there. Now they sit out in the open for anyone to peek at, protected beautifully by this wonderful wallet! I would also love to snatch up one of those owls she makes....Can I request one Jen? :o)

I also admire Stacy and ALL of the things that woman does! I don't know how so much creativity and talent could be inside one person, but she proves it over and over in every post she does. As a matter of fact, I found it hard to decide which links to post here to show off all of the things she does, but one of my absolute favorites is the fairy dress. I would still love to have one of the swimsuits she makes for her daughter (no pressure....). ;o)

Another talented little lady, whom I adore, is Christina. She is a great photographer and we have so many things in common when it comes to our little munchkins, I'd swear they were separated at birth! But lately Christina has been showing a crafty side. All of a sudden she whips out this beautiful head wreath. What little princess would not just die over that? While I'm at it, I'd purchase one of those too if you ever made an Etsy store Christina! :o)

So, in naming just a few of my faves above, this weeks Fortune Photo Friday is dedicated to them and all the other talented people I have come across. Keep it up ladies!
