Team Up Thursday -Week 7

For week 7 of Team Up Thursday, Christina and I chose the theme Lines/Patterns.

Since it has been rainy and dreary here for the last few days, when I look at Christina's photo I can just feel the warmth of that beautiful sun flare coming through the blinds. What a way to wake up in the morning and what a perfect interpretation of Lines. I also love that she took the shot at an angle, adding depth.

For mine, I have these lilies (youre not crazy Christina...I called them tulips by mistake before) that have held on forever and ever so I thought I would utilize them while I could. I placed the flower in front of a lamp that I have. The shade is sort of a metal like grid and when I shot the photo, only the intersections of the grid showed up.....It also illuminated the curved lines in the lily.

Let another week of Team Up Thursday begin!

your macro shots are out of this world - great capture!

Joanna, that totally looks like you could have shot that flower for some commercial job. Brilliant idea. The lines of the flower on top of the dots, nice. And looks like the flower is reaching right for Christina's sun. Great job, team.

I love them both. The sunflare in the window and the commercial, perfect look of the flower.
Well done!

Thanks for sharing your placement of the tulip, I was wondering if the background was a texture or not. The effect turned out wonderfully. I love how both of your shots emphasize light too. :)

What a great theme. There are so many options. I love the curve of the tulip and the lines along with the grid pattern. Very cool. I always love your macro shots though!!! I am a sucker for some flare too.

joanna, that flower shot looks straight out of a magazine. i couldn't figure out what the background was until i read your explanation -- brilliant!

You definitely have an eye and great imagination. I am in awe of the tulip shot! The sun shining through the window makes me smile. There is something about a sunny day that makes everything better. Beautiful angle as well. You both should be so proud this week!

LOVE the blinds picture! And the flower too. Okay, so I am digging all your photos ;D Great blog!

You are so inventive with your shots. I love the pattern of the shade and the flower. Christina and I were on the same wavelength this week.

Joanna, I'm not so sure I like being your partner...your shots are always so fantastical that mine pale in comparison!! LOL. Seriously Jo, love the ingenuity and result of this shot. Beee-utiful. But I'm confused...is that a tulip or a lily??

Amanda March 11, 2010 at 1:48 PM

Lovin' the light in both these shots. The curves - and like Melody mentioned - it's almost like the flower is leaning in towards that beautiful sunshine!

Christina - I feel the same way about my super-fab partner... Thankfully everyone playing along seems super nice and it's been fun to learn and grow! :)

i love them both. the reflection/rainbow (not sure what to call it) is so pretty ~ makes me think of my parents house b/c they have a few prizims hanging in their windows that make the most beautiful colors in the afternoon. i love the curves of the lily. very creative!!!

seriously, Joanna, this is the BEST one yet. I love everything about both shots. perfection, if you ask me.

The curve of the lily along with the lines get me completely. But paired with the backlighting and grids of the shade? Stunning!

Love the light in both these shots. The light from the lap showed such amazing detail in the flower. The pattern adds a great touch too! So cool and creative. Great job team!

I feel like I keep saying this, but...THIS is my most favorite macro of all time of yours! Wow...it is just amazing - and you are a creative photographic superstar for putting it in front of the cool shade, too! Wow, wow, wow!

Top work guys. Very different but both intriguing! Love the rainbow flare through the blinds and the lamp works really well behind the flower. I never would have picked it for a lamp!

Maggie March 12, 2010 at 7:23 PM

I'm always amazed that you two can shoot something so different that goes together so well! Once again, two gorgeous shots -- and the flower and the lamp shade? I never would have put two things like that together, and they go beautifully!

Melissa G March 15, 2010 at 10:05 PM

What a great idea to use the lily for this theme - it turned out beautifully. And the two shots are great together.

So behind, once again! I didn't know who shot which one when I saw this! Would probably have guessed the reverse this time! Love both of these and even though they are so very different the pattern behind your flower and the lines in the shade pull them together for me!
