For The Love of a Child
So Ella is turning 3 in a few weeks and god help me if I dont feel like throwing a big hoorah! Why is it that when she gets to the age that she could finally appreciate having a birthday party, I dont feel like throwing one? I am not much of a host. Actually it gives me anxiety. The thought of setting up food and drink, making sure everyone is having a good time, all the kids are safe and sound....and all that goes along with it.
She's like a 30 year old. I dont know how it happened. Her vocabulary skills practically match mine...or do mine practically match hers? **Hmmm, something to ponder** I can remember her doing the "army crawl" across the floor before she started walking. Skipped crawling all together. Seems like yesterday. Her personality is like a 1000 watt light bulb and her heart is as big and bright as her eyes. She is so caring and concerned with other people it just melts my heart. I can not wait to see what she blossoms into.
So when I look at that little face and see the excitement in her eyes when she is having fun and interacting, how could I turn down an "Ella Day" (thats what she called it on her second birthday). She is growing up so fast and who knows if we will be able to even have another one. So I will suck it up for one day and enjoy the delight in my child's face and try to make it the best "Ella Day" possible.

Awww...what a little sweetheart!
Don't stress too much about throwing parties. Kids are pretty easy in the summertime...just throw them outside with some games and balls and cook some hotdogs.
Last winter was the first kid party I threw for Kai when he turned 4. We got some lizards from a company down in the way south metro (RAD Zoo) and the kids had a blast! It would be much easier to do that in the summertime. It was a little cramped in the house but so fun to watch the kids. :)
She has beautiful eyes. Stacy is right. Summer parties are easy. Kids are easily entertained outside.
She's beautiful - I agree with Stacy - throw them outside - For Aubrey's b-day, we invited friends, did up some water balloons, had a soccer ball, and they had a blast! :) Hot dogs are also a great kid food! :)
Happy Early Birthday!
I so totally understand about party anxiety...I typically have that too. But, the other people who commented are right- summer parties are so much easier, and you pretty much can not mess up with kids this age! I love all of the precious comments that you said about your BEAUTIFUL little girl; she is turning out to be one special kid. No matter what you decide to do, she will have a PERFECT "Ella Day"!
Look at those eyes! She is gorgeous -- and Happy Birthday to her!
Awww, look at those big eyse! Happy Birthday! I absolutely am not a party thrower and carry the guilt with me every year. I know you will find a way to make her day special!
Gosh, she's got gorgeous eyes!!
Happy Birthday to your daughter! She is beautiful! And just have fun and enjoy her day, whatever you decide to do!!
I know the stress of parties very well! I know you'll be great! I will help in any way, so don't hesitate to ask! We have a few outside games we can bring (bean bag toss, etc) I can make a couple of salads too! Whatever you need!
